Severe Winter Weather
Snow and ice storms, coupled with cold temperatures, periodically threaten the state. Winter storms can damage property, create safety risks, destroy crops and valuable timber, damage infrastructure components such as power lines, and have enormous economic impacts. Snow and ice storms most recently struck South Carolina in 2000, 2002, and 2004.
