The mission of the regional emergency management program is to represent the state emergency management program at the local level, enabling effective preparation for, and efficient response to, emergencies and disasters in order to save lives, reduce human suffering and reduce property loss.  The REM staff coordinate with county emergency management personnel on plan enhancement, training, exercise development and evaluation.  The REM staff also ensures stakeholders are aware of current programs, training, exercise and grant opportunities available to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of programs.  They assist and ensure programs are developed to include the concepts of the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System.  REMs also develop capability assessments for county use in identifying shortfalls and coordinate plans for improvement.  In concert with local officials, REMs develop training specific to county emergency management personnel on crisis management software such as WebEOC.  REMs coordinate the implementation of various recovery programs; to include damage assessment team workshops and seminars.  Our REMs will act as the state's link between county emergency managers during actual emergencies and serves as a liaison to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
