NIMSCAST stands for National Incident Management System Capability Assessment Support Tool. NIMSCAST is designed as the premier, web-based self-assessment instrument for State, territorial, tribal, local governments to evaluate and report their jurisdiction's achievement of all NIMS implementation activities released since 2004

What does the NIMSCAST do?

The NIMSCAST is designed for incident and resource managers as a comprehensive self-assessment support tool. The NIMSCAST allows users to assess the current status/level of their respective jurisdiction's or organization's incident preparedness against the requirements outlined in the NIMS. Using the NIMSCAST as a method of identifying weaknesses in incident preparedness will assist incident and resource managers to become compliant with NIMS. As a self-assessment support tool, the NIMSCAST not only aids users to become compliant with the NIMS, but also supports incident and resource managers seeking to enhance and maximize the effectiveness of their incident preparedness as a central point for identifying and acquiring resources

FEMA has taken the NIMSCAST website offline due to budget constraints.  Reporting is still required and will be done this year in conjunction with THIRA reporting and will now be due in December 2013.  The rollout of the new material will occur in the next few weeks.  Once SCEMD receives it, instructions will be sent out to users.  Please feel free to contact the State NIMS Response Coordinator with any questions that you may have.
