Military representatives from across South Carolina met Thursday with state and county emergency managers for a disaster preparedness seminar hosted by the South Carolina Emergency Management Division.
Participants discussed best practices and lessons learned from exercises and past incidents, including Hurricane Helene, Tropical Storm Debby, and other events.
The seminar included remarks from Major General Robin B. Stilwell, Adjutant General for South Carolina, and Kim Stenson, director of the SCEMD.
“The South Carolina National Guard is trained and ready to support our state and local communities during times of emergency. Today's seminar is a valuable addition to our ongoing readiness efforts,” Stilwell said.
Stenson emphasized the importance of preparedness, saying, "When emergencies affect South Carolina, it's vital to have trained personnel ready to respond swiftly."
Representatives from various military branches, including the State Guard, S.C. National Guard, U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and Air Force, attended the event.
